| Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™, only 5 miles from scenic Natural Bridge, is a family vacation camping resort. Located on the James River nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia between the Blue Ridge Mountains and Interstate 81 . | Cave Mountain Lake nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, (and just minutes from Glasgow) welcomes generations of families who enjoy the rustic beauty and peacefulness of the area. Daytime visitors and campers alike favor swimming, picnicking, sunning and fishing at Cave Mountain Lake. The Civilian Conservation Corps built the 7-acre, man-made lake in the 1930's using existing buttresses of natural rock to form a 35-foot high dam. The CCC’s also built the Log Picnic Shelter using trees and rocks from the area. Its massive stone fireplace and rough-hewn beams evoke an atmosphere of days long past. Just a short drive from Cave Mountain Lake are the James River Face Wilderness, with many hiking trails including the Appalachian Trail; the Blue Ridge Parkway; and other historical and scenic places to visit. |
| Situated in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains, the Glenwood & Pedlar Ranger Districts stretch over 223,000 acres from just south of Waynesboro, VA to just north of Troutville, VA. Recreation opportunities abound for visitors, ranging from a short day hike along a shaded stream to a week-long backpacking trip up and down rugged mountain trails. There are over 300 miles of hiking trails, including approximately 120 miles of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. The 65-mile Glenwood Horse Trail provides a variety of experiences for the horse enthusiast, while the South Pedlar ATV Trail System is available to those wanting to ride their ATV’s and dirt bikes. Want to stay a few days to see more? Camping experiences are available in developed campgrounds. Campsites range from those with electric hook-ups to the more primitive sites nestled in the forest. |
| Located in Lexington (18 miles away), The Virginia Horse Center is a 600 acre state-of-the-art environment for horse shows and other livestock events. There are currently eight barns to accommodate 750 horses in permanent stabling, and approximately 1200 horses indoors in permanent and temporary stabling. Two of the barns are winterized, which along with their proximity to our 4,000 seat indoor coliseum, allow the horse show calendar to extend throughout the year. The Virginia Horse Center has eighteen show rings and arenas, including the 300' x 150' indoor Waldron Arena in the Howard P. Anderson Coliseum. There is a five-mile Olympic caliber cross-country course, and also an internationally recognized carriage driving marathon course on our Oak Hill property. Future plans for Oak Hill include a steeplechase course and steeplechase timber as well. The Center also offers such amenities as a 2 campgrounds, a restaurant and catering service with banquet facilities, a gift shop, and more. Events happen all year!
