If you have a concern about a specific incident in which you
had contact with the Glasgow Police, please fill out the
Police Complaint Form and return it to the Town Hall. The
Town has adopted a policy requiring that all complaints be
investigated. We strive to provide the best possible
professional law enforcement service to this community. You
may also call the Town Hall and speak with the Town
Manager about your concerns.
Mission Statement
The Glasgow Police Department's fundamental duty and mission is to serve
the community; to safeguard lives and property, to protect the innocent
against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the
peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the constitutional
rights of all to liberty, equality, and justice.

The Glasgow Police Department officers will keep their private life unsullied
as an example to all and will behave in a manner that does not bring discredit
to the officer or the Police Department. Glasgow Police Department officers
will maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn or ridicule;
develop self-restraint; and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others.
Honest in thought and deed in both the officer's personal and official life.
The officers will be exemplary in obeying the law and the regulations of the
Glasgow Police department.  Whatever the officer see or hear of a
confidential nature or that is confided to the officer in their official capacity
will be kept ever secret unless revelation is necessary in the performance of
the officers duty.

Glasgow Police officers will never act officiously or permit personal
feelings, prejudices, political beliefs, aspirations, animosities, or friendships
to influence the officer's decisions.  With no compromise for crime and with
relentless prosecution of criminals,  Glasgow officers will enforce the law
courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice, or ill will,
never employing unnecessary force or violence and never accepting
gratuities.

Glasgow Police officers recognize the badge of their office as a symbol of
public faith, and the officers shall accept it as a public trust to be held so
long as the officer is true to the ethics of police service.  Glasgow Police
officers will never engage in acts of corruption or bribery, nor will they
condone such acts by other law enforcement officers.  Glasgow Police
department will cooperate with all legally authorized agencies and their
representatives in the pursuit of justice.
Public Safety
The Town maintains a one person police
department. The Town Sergeant works a varying
schedule amounting to 40 hours per week. He is also
available, at times, to handle incidents while off-
duty. You may call the police non-emergency line
(258-2732) to speak with the Sergeant. Additional
police services are provided by the Rockbridge
County Sheriff’s Department and the Virginia State
Police.
Sgt. Damon Propst came to Glasgow in 2003
bringing extensive experience in law
enforcement. He was originally trained by, and
worked for, the New York City Police
Department (NYPD). He also held law
enforcement positions in upstate New York
and Maryland, before coming to Glasgow.

The Glasgow Life Saving and First Aid Crew provides
emergency medical and rescue services to the Town
and surrounding areas. The all volunteer squad
provides both basic and advanced life support service
and responds to a variety of rescue and transport calls.
If you are interested in volunteering, the squad can be
reached at 258-2247.
